Pemba Island

Zanzibar Archipelago
Pictures coming soon!

The second of the largest islands forming the Zanzibar archipelago, Pemba is situated 50km north of Unguja, and also forms part of the spice islands. Its hillier landscape and fertility compared to Unguja thrives in small scale farming and some large scale cloves farming.

Chake-Chake, Mkoani and Wete comprise some of its most prominent towns.

Pemba is also known for being a rich fishing ground hosting a deep 50km wide channel. Misali island is a small forest covered island surrounded by coral reefs and is located west of Pemba. It provides a stunning spot to snorkel alongside being home to the Fischer's Turaco, a rare bird species.
