Sitting 6km long and 3km wide on the Equatorial channel between Huvadhu Atoll and Addu Atoll, Fuvahmulah (under Gnaviyani Atoll administrative unit) is the only atoll in Maldives that's composed of a single island.
The atoll hosts a Biosphere Reserve that is home to significant populations of Tiger sharks, thresher and whale sharks. Over 1,200 fish species are also found here.
The island's soil is fertile as it sees bananas, oranges, pineapples, papayas, mangoes and lime flourish from its land, therefore offering a different vegetation from the other islands.
