The endless green hills offer hikers with sky blue panoramic views on a landscape that summits up to 2188masl. The hills are located right between the Tsavo West and Amboseli plains with a magnificent view of Mt Kilimanjaro.
Chyulu National Park boasts one of the world’s longest and deepest lava caves with a length of 11.15km. Some of its eruptions occurred as recently as 240 years ago. Constructed staircases have been set up at one of the entrances to make the caves easily accessible.
Camping inside the park is possible at designated campsites.
Chyulu Hills has no surface rivers. An interesting fact is that it however acts as an underground reservoir for collection of rain water for its surrounding plains such as the Mzima springs, 50km due south in Tsavo. Umani springs, to the North east of the hills is another catchment benefiting from this collection.
Chyulu also boasts game, as do other parks. Wildlife spotted in the park include buffalo, bushbucks, elands, elephants, leopards, giant forest hogs, bush pigs, reedbucks and giraffes along with various reptiles and insects.
