One of the most visited parks in Kenya, the park sits on 392sq km spreading to the Kenya Tanzanian border.

WILDLIFE

It acquired its title as ‘The land of the Giants’ as it offers the best close up view of free ranging elephants in Africa. Other species found in the park are African bush elephants, Cape buffaloes, impala, East African lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, Maasai giraffes, Grant's zebras, and blue wildebeest among other African animals. The park is also home to over 370 bird species.

Echo, an elephant who died in 2009, and known to be the most researched elephant in the world, lived right here in the Amboseli National park. She died at 60.

LANDSCAPE

The park offers a spectacular view of Mt Kilimanjaro to the south, the highest free-standing mountain in the world and the tallest mountain in Africa standing at 5895masl. The mountain can clearly be seen at either dusk or dawn.

CULTURE

The Park opens up an opportunity for visitors to learn about the locals, the Maasai, with trips to the Maasai villages.

TERRAIN

The park boasts a mixed topography of plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush, swamps and marshes.
