Addu Atoll

Maldives
Pictures coming soon!

Together with Fuvahmulah, this heart-shaped atoll is located on the southernmost part of Maldives, 540km from Male. Meedhoo, Maradhoo, Hithadhoo, Feydhoo and Hulhudhoo are natural islands that make up the inhabited regions of Addu Atoll, amongst other inhabited and uninhabited islands.

The harbour at Addu Atoll can be accessed through 4 channels namely, Kuda and Maa channels to the north, Gan channel to the south and Villingili channel to the south east; which provide a calm and safe environment for sea vessels, not affected by seasonal changes.

Gan International Airport, which has history as being a secret Royal Navy base during the 2nd World War, is located within Addu Atoll.

Wildlife

The white tern (bird species) is only found on Addu Atoll in the whole of Maldives. Whales, dolphins and manta rays are also seen here.
