A landlocked country in South East Africa, between Limpopo and Zambezi rivers, bordered by Mozambique to the east, Zambia to the north across Victoria Falls, Botswana to the South west and South Africa to the south.
Zimbabwe's landscape includes a series of mountainous areas on the Eastern Highlands near the Mozambique border hosting the highest peak in Zimbabwe, Mt Nyangani (2,593masl) as well as the Bvumba Mountains.
2,000 years ago, granite was forced to the surface, forming the current Matobo Hills, an area of wooded valleys and granite kopjes, located some 35km south of Bulawayo in Southern Zimbabwe.
One of the world's widest water falls is located on the Zambezi river on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, the Victoria Falls (Mosi-oa-Tunya; "The smoke that thunders"). At a combined width and height of 1708m and 108m respectively, Victoria Falls is considered the world's largest sheet of falling water.
