Botswana is a landlocked country in Southern Africa, and home to the Kalahari desert that occupies 70% of its territory. Connected to Zambia across the short Zambezi river, and bordering South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe, the country is topographically flat and sparsely populated, hosting a little over 2.3 million people.
Botswana boasts a rich variety of wildlife, as well as hosting the perennial Okavango Delta (UNESCO World heritage site) that constitutes a maze of waterways, islands and lakes during the rainy season.
